DEBORAH L. BRINKLEY
Debbie Brinkley is
an educator with over 25 years experience working with families, children and businesses as a
Speech and Language Pathologist, tutor, Early Childhood Program intake coordinator, Preschool
Director, Executive Director and Vice President of a DDTCS/CHMS facility, speaker, trainer and
mother. She earned a B.A. from Ouachita Baptist University and has done graduate work at the
University of Arkansas. She is certified in Speech and Language Pathology, Early Childhood and
Regular Classroom K-6. She has developed and delivered numerous workshops, staff development
in-services, and presentations for families, educators, parents, P.T.A. groups, Head Starts,
Preschool staffs, businesses and civic organizations.
In addition, Debbie has
demonstrated her outstanding interpersonal skills over the years through problem solving, public
relation opportunities, dealing with staff issues, facilitating parent meetings, and leading
professional organizations. She is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Maumelle and served
Rotary District 6150 as Governor in 2009-2010.
She is a trained
facilitator for Developing Capable People (DCP) and a certified leader for parenting workshops. She
has facilitated numerous DCP workshops as well as used these materials while conducting in-service
training for educators. A popular speaker, her positive approach to working with families and
educators centers on prevention is inspiring.
Since being certified as
a facilitator of the DCP workshops, Debbie has coordinated and/or facilitated numerous workshops
involving over 500 parents, educators, and professionals. The three perceptions and four skills
that are the backbone of the workshop are especially meaningful because of the changes that were
seen in the lives of her children, as well as in the lives of others who have received the
training.
Using the television production facilities at the Jones Center for
Families in Springdale, Arkansas, Debbie developed and helped produce a television series called
“Building Stronger Families,” consisting of twelve programs. Built around a talk and discussion
format, several programs featured H. Stephen Glenn, the author of the Developing Capable People
materials, while others were panel discussions, discussions with participants of the DCP workshops
and a live call-in show. The series aired weekly on the Jones Television Network.
Debbie is also the co-author with her husband of The Family Meeting
Notebook.
