Our Mentors
We have been very
fortunate to have been able to study the work of, and be personally trained by two men who we hold
not only in the highest regard professionally, but who have become our mentors and
friends.
H. Stephen Glenn, Ph.D. is the author of the book
Raising Self-Reliant Children in a Self-Indulgent World and the originator of
the Developing Capable
People® workshop materials. We
have done trainings, workshops and presentations with these materials for over twenty
years. We served as editors on the revision of the materials and Phyl contributed
original poetry to what was renamed the Developing
Capable Young People® workshop.
Taibi Kahler, Ph.D. is the author of The Mastery of
Management and the originator of the Process Communication Model® (PCM), which sets out
six personality types, their character strengths, perceptions, psychological needs,
motivational strategies, and behaviors under stress. Our association with Dr. Kahler
began in 2001.
Our exposure
to the work of these two men has been an “aha” for us. When we began to see the strength
of integrating the personality types from the work of Dr. Kahler with the “Significant Seven” from
Dr. Glenn’s work, we had what Dr. Glenn likes to describe as a BFO – a Blinding Flash of the
Obvious. Our toolbox runneth over!
It was an honor for us
to entertain these two men in our home and allow them to meet for the first time. Their work
provided the vision for Developing Capable
Mentors.
